January 2022 Newsletter

FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Larissa Rasmussen
With a new year comes new opportunities…and the one I am most excited about in 2022 is the opportunity to plan an in-person conference! Mark your calendars for October 19-21, 2022 and join us at Madden’s in Gull Lake. We are so excited to be able to come together with our MFWCAA members in-person this year!
A new year also means a new Minnesota Financial Worker and Case Aide Association membership season! MFWCAA membership runs from January 1 – December 31 each year. Please consider renewing your membership right away. Not only does early membership guide us in planning for regional or remote trainings and conference numbers, but also gains your eligibility for the early bird prize drawing! Membership registrations will all be done online this year at www.mfwcaa.org. For more information, check out Benjamin’s registration information in this newsletter.
Scholarship applications open for 2022 on January 1st. Eligible students can apply on our website, or by filling out the attached paper form. Please be sure they are complete and legible, if handwritten. The deadline to apply is February 28, 2022. These scholarships have previously been funded by the basket sales and games at our fall in-person conferences. Since we haven’t had an in-person conference for two years now, we have used other funds to continue awarding these scholarships. However, our scholarship committee encourages everyone to put your thinking caps on early and start planning a basket to donate for the 2022 conference! If you have any questions on how, who or what in regards to bringing or donating to baskets for conference, please reach out to your region representative!
The board welcomes a new Region 5 representative, Tracy Dullinger from Todd County!
On a personal note, back in April 2020 when Version 4 of the Covid Q&A Guide was released, my coworkers and I placed “guesses” as to how many versions of this guide there would be. The highest guess was Version 19. Who knew we would now be on Version 31 and still updating and following these guides! Pat yourself on the back for keeping up with all the changes that these last couple of years have thrown at us and for showing up every day to do your best work for the people of Minnesota.
I am very thankful to have creative, innovative and hard-working board members on my team again this year! We are always available for questions, comments and feedback, either by contacting your region representative directly, or emailing us at mfwcaa@gmail.com.
Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2022!
Larissa Rasmussen
