July 2018 Newsletter

MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to promote professionalism and to facilitate the opportunity to provide training, networking and better communication for all Financial Workers and Case Aides in order to deliver human service programs effectively within Minnesota.

From our President

Hello, I hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather and spending time with your families!

Conference is just around the corner and we have a lot of information in this newsletter for you.  We will be at Crowne Plaza again this year and have great sessions and awesome entertainment scheduled.

Please remember that this is an all-inclusive conference so there is only one rate – which includes all meals, snacks and other costs associated with conference.

You will need to complete the conference registration form and send it to the MFWCAA address in Grand Rapids.  You can call Crowne Plaza directly to make hotel reservations or use their online reservation link, which can be found attached to this newsletter.  If you have any questions about conference or registering, please contact me.

Our Board is saying good-bye to Kathy Jordan, who will be moving out of state.  We wish her all the luck in Kansas and will miss her presence on the Board.  Please join me in welcoming her replacement, Cara Wright.

We still have an open Case Aide position and the need for a Region 1 Representative.  If you are interested, please let me know.

Enjoy the remainder of the summer!  I hope to see you in October.

President

Scholarship News

Mission Possible: Thank you to all those whom accepted the challenge and provided a basket or purchased a raffle ticket or two for our annual scholarship basket raffle.  Last year we had an amazing turn out with 31 baskets and a grand total of $5562 raised for our scholarship program.  Our goal each year is to increase the number of baskets to raffle and to increase our raffle sales in order to issue more scholarships.  Please continue to show your support for the scholarship program by bringing a basket to conference.  Prize money will be given out to the top two baskets for sales, the most creative basket to fit our conference theme, and a random drawing.  Raffle tickets will be available at the MFWCAA vendor table in the vendor area and will be $1.00 per ticket.  Drawings for the basket winners will be held immediately following the business meeting on Friday, October 26.  Please note you must be present to win.   By popular demand we will also be selling beads for the “Heads or Tails” game.  Beads will be available at the MFWCAA vendor table on Wednesday for $5.00.  Stop by the MFWCAA vendor table to get more information.

We would like to thank all of you for participating in the scholarship fundraiser.  Without your continued support we would not be able to have this wonderful program.  We look forward to seeing you and your creative baskets this fall!

Hello all!  I’m Cara Wright, the new representative for Region 10.  I am super excited to start this adventure with you!  I have been an Eligibility Worker since October of 2013.  I have wanted to do this work since I was young and lived with a single mom who utilized county programs.

I work with the Bank Team in MNPrairie County Alliance where we serve the single adult and LTC population.  Starting with Steele County Human Services, I was a dedicated intake worker where I conducted the intake interviews for all programs.  Our agency merged with Dodge and Waseca Counties to become MNPrairie County Alliance in 2015.

My strength is in-person meetings with clients – and I love doing them!  I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and seeing what I can bring to Region 10!

– Cara Wright
